Leasing

Picture

Leasing a copier can be frustrating.  We have some advice for you below that may help keep the frustration down to a minimum.
At Copier Consultants Inc., we are less concerned about making a sale and more focused on getting you the right copier(s) to get the job done.  Leasing a re-manufactured copier with a low meter can save you a lot of money in the long run.  And if you lease a copier from CCI, the copier is yours to own after the last payment.  No buy-out terms to worry about.

What to Watch Out For When Leasing a Copier

What happens at the end of a lease?
  • Many companies will offer you what seems like a great lease on a new copier, but at the end, your only option may be to do a buy-out on a machine that is now worth a fraction of what you have to pay to keep it.  If you decide against keeping the leased copier, you may be stuck with a shipping cost of hundreds of dollars per machine.
What kind of warranty is on the copier?
  • If you happen to lease a machine that turns out to be a ‘lemon’, will the vendor replace it?  If not, you will be stuck with a machine that does not work and a horrible, legally binding lease, leaving you in the red.
What will happen to the data on the copier after the lease?
  • All of the new copiers are digital, which means your sensitive business information and or private client information could be on the hard drive.  Will they destroy all this sensitive data for you?  Are extra costs involved?

Avoid These Copier Leasing Pitfalls

If you fail to notify the copier leasing company in a timely manner...
  • Most copier leases require written notices to the leasing company within a certain time frame to end the lease.  Failure to notify them between 30 and 120 days before the end of the lease may result in an automatic extension of the lease.
Initial Document Preparation Fee
  • Most leasing companies that supply copiers, charge you something called an “Initial Document Preparation Fee”, which can be $75 or more!  If you ask to have it taken off of your bill, they probably will oblige.
Insurance
  • More than likely your office’s insurance policy provides more than enough coverage required by the copier lease.  So, within the first thirty days of the lease, call your insurance company.  Then have your insurance company provide documentation on the coverage and name the leasing company as loss payee on the copier.
  • If you don’t do this, you may end up paying extra per month on your lease for insurance coverage you already have!
